I went to Ted Warren, the photographer for the Chicago AP. He had some intersetsing ideas about journalism and means of communication. Video and photography really are an important aspect of the way we socialize and transfer information and messages. Think about tsome of the photos that have come out of 9-11 and other major events. What were some of the speakers that you went to on Comm Day? What did you learn?

I went to the panel discussion and the University forum. I really liked what Sis Merrill had to say during the panel discussion. She talked about having confidence. I completely agreed with her, that when you are confident in yourself and what you do than it will reflect in the kind of work you do. If you don't have confidence I don't think that you will be as successful as you could be.
ReplyDeleteI went to Mike Adams. He was a lot of fun telling us about his experiences with broadcasting. He said some very good things. He said to not take things personally, listen to others opinions, make your enemies your friends, and to take charge and get things done yourself.
ReplyDeleteI loved Sister Merrill's presentation about the transition from college to corporate america. I think it can be a huge transition for a lot of us and she gave so many key insights on how her transition went smoother. My favorite things she said was to be professional, both in dress and in speech. She emphasized the importance of NEVER gossiping in the work place and finding common ground with all those you work with. I thought she did an excellent job. And she was great because she could relate to us as she was just in our shoes at BYU-I not to long ago.
